My Favourite Fragrances for Him, Her and Them

miss-dior-parfum-ashmosphere

Choosing a new favourite fragrance is a personal task. What exactly are you looking for? Something Woody? Fresh, floral, oriental? My fragrance of choice can depend very much on the season, event or just how I’m feeling on that particular day.

Despite the overwhelming choice out there, I have whittled down my top four favourite fragrance (s) for her and for him and them. For some inspiration, read below.

HER

Burberry Brit for Her – Burberry

I have been a long time fan of Burberry Brit For Her. Picking up my first bottle in and around 2010, I always make sure to have a bottle of this in rotation. To some, this perfume appears to be sweet, with the notes of almond and iced pear really jumping out. However, on my skin, this fragrance takes on a gorgeous darker edge, with the notes of mahogany, amber and white peony taking precedence. I find it lovely and sensual, perfect for autumn/winter.

Sadly, this hasn’t been available in UK stores for some time now but luckily for me, it’s still available from online retailers and duty-free so I’m not going without.

Top notes: Lime, Iced Pear, Green Almond
Heart notes: White Peony, Dragee
Base notes: Mahogany, Amber, Vanilla, Tonka Bean

Joy – Dior

Dior’s Joy is a floral-fresh fragrance, perfect for day and night. This is one of my favourite fragrance to wear in spring/summer. Florals for Spring? Groundbreaking. Featuring notes include citrus, jasmine and sandalwood; so it smells light and fresh which is perfect for those warmer days.

Top notes: Citrus, Neroli
Heart notes: Centifolia Rose, Jasminum Grandiflorum
Base notes: Vanilla, Sandalwood, Patchouli

Dolce – Dolce & Gabbana

Dolce by Dolce & Gabbana is a gorgeous, feminine fragrance. Inspired by the designer duo’s hometown of Sicily, Dolce has the soft scent of white flowers and the freshness of neroli leaf and papaya blossom. Dolce is my alternative spring/summer fragrance – more sweet and delicate than Dior’s Joy.

Top notes: Neroli Leaf, Papaya Blossom
Heart notes: White Amaryllis, Narcissus, Water Lily
Base notes: Cashmeran, Musk

Miss Dior – Dior

Miss Dior has been a long-time favourite fragrance of mine. I always feel so luxe and decadent when wearing it. A little goes a long way and I love the smell still lingering on my skin at the end of a long day. Miss Dior is a sophisticated and sensual scent, featuring notes such as bergamot and pink peppercorn. It

A couple of Christmases ago, I was gifted the Miss Dior Hair Mist. Something I never knew I needed but something I absolutely adore. I feel so entirely lovely when spritzing this through my hair and the scent envelops me whenever a breeze moves through my hair.

Top notes: Calabrian Bergamot
Heart notes: Grasse Rose Absolute
Base notes: Guyana Rosewood, Pink Peppercorn

HIM

Burberry Brit for Him – Burberry

A counterpart to my fave, Burberry Brit for Her – Burberry Brit for Him is a warm and smooth aftershave. Both fresh and woodsy thanks to notes of green mandarin, ginger and oriental woods, this aftershave is effortlessly sophisticated. This aftershave has the staying power from day into night, without being overpowering.

Top notes: Green Mandarin, Ginger, Bergamot, Cardamom
Heart notes: Wild Roses, Cedar wood, Nutmeg
Base notes: Oriental Woods, Grey Musk, Tonka Bean

Terre D’Hermes – Hermes

According to Jean-Claude Ellena, the Hermes perfumer credited for creating Terre D’Hermes, the inspiration behind the scent is “Feeling the earth, lying on the ground, gazing at the sky.” A story of the alchemy behind the elements… Whatever that means.

Terre D’Hermes is by far the most sophisticated and heady scent on my list. Zesty orange, bitter grapefruit mixed with smokey gunflint and fresh spices to create a fragrance which pays tribute to both earth and sky. Long-lasting and powerful, Terre D’Hermes is perfect for a special occasion or as a signature scent.

Top notes: Grapefruit, Orange
Heart notes: Gunflint, Flint, Peppers, Pink Peppercorn, Geranium Leaves, Patchouli, Baies Rose
Base notes: Atlas Cedarwood, Vetiver, Gum Benzoin

Tom Ford Grey Vetiver – Tom Ford

A dominant, masculine fragrance of vetiver with complimentary fresh and salty notes. One of the most popular Tom Ford aftershaves, Grey Vetiver is a clean versatile fragrance, perfect for day-to-day wear.

Top notes: Sage, Orange Blossom and Grapefruit.
Middle notes: Orris, Nutmeg and Pimento
Base notes: Amber woods, Oakmoss and Vetiver.

REPLICA Jazz Club – Maison Margiela

This may be an aftershave but this is currently my favourite fragrance to wear myself. I came across REPLICA Jazz Club whilst in Los Angeles earlier this year and dragged my friend into every Sephora so that I could spray it. I really regretted not purchasing it, so I was so pleasantly surprised when I found out she had bought a bottle for my birthday.  REPLICA Jazz Club by Maison Martin Margiela is a collective of strong masculine and sultry notes transporting you to a smoky dark Jazz Club. Smoky and sensual with fresh, sweet accents, I don’t think I’ve ever felt as sexy as I do when I wear this aftershave.

Top notes: Pink Pepper, Lemon, Neroli
Middle notes: Rum, Clary sage, Java vetiver oil
Base notes: Tobacco leaf, Vanilla Bean, Styrax.

Are any of these fragrances your favourites also? If not, what is your favourite perfume/aftershave? Let me know!

Until next time,

Ashleigh x

  1. I love Miss Dior, an old friend used to wear it daily so I never used to get it so we didn’t smell the same but it’s such a nice one. Love the Tom Ford too, these are great picks x

  2. My signature scent is Origins Ginger Essence, I’ve worn it for years and I don’t know anyone else who wears it. But that said, I do love a good floral so Joy might be good for me to try sometime 🙂

  3. Love this collection of intoxicating scents; Burberry Brit sounds like a wonderful smell and I love that is has both male and female counterparts! Since I have recently been reading about Sicily, Dolce also intrigues me.
    Thanks for sharing!
