With just little over two months until Christmas, I’m sure I’m not the only one that has found themselves underprepared with a lack of money put aside. It’s amazing how despite it being the same date every year, it really creeps up on you. One minute you’re chilling watching Love Island and the next it’s October and you’re digging out your thermals.
This is the moment where I begin to panic about not budgeting before now (being unorganised is really on-brand for me).
This lack of organisation is what also has me running out the door most days without my morning coffee. I would usually say the extra 20 minutes in bed are worth it but after doing the manic morning run a couple of days in a row you start to notice the cost adds up.
More often than not I was spending around £2.50, four to five days a week – potentially more if I was feeling fancy and desiring something syrupy, frapped or supersized. This got me thinking about how much money I spend on coffees monthly and how much I could be saving. This realisation and some quick maths made me realise that between now and Christmas I had the potential to save upwards of £100.
With this in mind, I decided to set myself a Just a Coffee a Day Saving Challenge. For the next seven weeks rather than buying coffee on my way to work, I will bring my own in a reusable cup, saving myself £15-20 each week, saving over £100 overall. (This money I will most likely take out and put aside or run the risk of spending it on other frivolous shit).
Just by changing one thing so simple I will have some additional spending money that I can put towards presents or my Christmas night out.
I’ve been finding this an effective way to save a little bit consistently as it’s an amount I know I can afford daily and it surprisingly adds up. I am using the Just a Coffee a Day Saving Challenge to save for Christmas but it’s a simple and effective way to save for any upcoming events you may have. An easy way to save up some additional spending money for holidays or to save for something you’ve had your eye on for ages. Treat yo’ self!
Not exactly coming for Martin Lewis Money Saving Expert and his crown but what I’d consider a potentially useful saving challenge for when you are looking for a minimal effort way to save some extra cash!

Until next time,
