Weather Out Winter Skincare Routine

Weather Out Winter Skincare Routine

I don’t know if you are like me but I have always had extremely sensitive skin, to the point where even some products labelled for sensitive skin can aggravate it. It’s because of this I can find it especially hard to find skincare that I like.

Luckily I have always had very good and clear skin (#humblebrag). But this Winter I have really struggled with dry skin, especially on my forehead. It was tight, sore and flaky – just not a great look and my usual skincare really wasn’t cutting it. I tried so many different things to combat the problem: sheet masks, heavy-duty creams, serums but I was seeing absolutely no improvement if anything it was aggravating the rest of my face.

After some major experimenting and trial & error, I finally found my saving grace in the form of Bioderma’s Atoderm Intensive Baume and The Ordinary’s 100% Organic pressed Rosehip Oil.

Winter Skincare Regime to beat dry skin. Using Bioderma Atoderm Intensive Baum (Ultra-Soothing Balm) which soothes very dry, irritated atopic sensitive skin. Also using Deciem's The Ordinary 100% organic cold-pressed Rose Hip oil.

I had originally bought the Bioderma cream for help with my eczema but thought I would give it a try as a last resort. After using the Bioderma twice a day daily for 3 days I noticed a massive improvement. I then started using rosehip oil every second night and have been so pleased with the results. My skin is now so soft and replenished feeling.

The Bioderma Atoderm Intensive Baume is relatively thick and heavy, so I only put on when my skin is extremely dry skin as a last resort. I wouldn’t use as a long-term skincare regime but during Winter, this has really saved my skin!

If you are not looking for a heavy-duty cream, I couldn’t recommend rose hip oil enough. I chose The Ordinary’s one since it was 100% pressed organic so I wasn’t going to be using anything aggravating on my skin. And at £9, it was one of the cheapest on the market. However, you can also find rose hip oil in the majority of health stores. I have been mixing in a few drops of The Ordinary’s rose hip oil into my moisturiser in the morning which leaves my skin feeling rejuvenated. Additionally, if I feel like I need to, I will take three drops of the oil and pat it into my skin before using my moisturiser during my nighttime routine.

These two products have become staples in my bathroom cabinet and will always help my skin when it’s feeling weathered out by the harsh winter chill and dry office air conditioning.
