Shane Dawson X Jeffree Star Conspiracy Palette Review

It’s finally landed. After much anticipation and religiously tuning into The Beautiful Life of Jeffree Star, the Shane Dawson X Jeffree Star collaboration is here.

The Beautiful Life of Jeffree Star is a multi-ep docu-series on Shane Dawson’s Youtube channel following up the previous successful The Secret Life of Jeffree Star. Dawson’s series so far has shown the entire process of designing a new makeup collection, from the initial concept, picking shade colours & names, to finalising packaging & design.

The Conspiracy Collection

The concept of the first Shane Dawson X Jeffree Star collection (I say first as I am in no doubt that there will be more) is conspiracies. Fans of Dawson will know that he is a massive fan of conspiracies, even creating a series in early 2019.

The Conspiracy collection contains an 18-pan Conspiracy palette, 9-pan Mini Controversy palette, 6 liquid lipsticks, 1 clear lip gloss, 1 lip balm, 2 pig mirrors, 4 makeup bags, 2 pig handbags and 1 Jeffree x Shane tracksuit.

Each element of the collection pays homage to different aspects of Shane and Jeffree’s lives and the YouTube community as a whole allowing fans to feel as if they are part of an inside joke.

This collection has been highly anticipated by fans of the series and the beauty community as a whole. And as the coveted Conspiracy Collection launched on November 1st, we saw a whole lot of websites crash as everyone tried to get their hands on it at the same time.

Despite having some minor stress and difficulties ordering it, I am pleased to say I managed to order the Conspiracy palette and have it in my hands in less than 24 hours.

Conspiracy Palette

As we saw in the docuseries, a lot of thought and work went into creating just the right packaging and branding which would reflect the palette whilst sitting nicely with the existing Jeffree Star Cosmetics palettes.

I’m actually kind of obsessed with the packaging. The whole thing feels very luxe with the different textures & dark chrome elements and the pyramid design is a stroke of genius without crossing the line into gimmicky.

The Conspiracy palette retails for £48/$52 and contains 18 shades in a range of matte, metallics and foils in the iconic Jeffree Star eyeshadow formula. The formula is vegan, cruelty-free and not to mention super pigmented.

The shades featured in Conspiracy Palette include:

Personally, I am in love with the shade range, Now, will I wear all the shades, such as Food Videos? Absolutely not. I’m not confident enough in myself nor in my makeup skills. Not to say there aren’t people out there that will absolutely slay in it! But overall, the majority of the shades I love and can see myself wearing a lot. I am particularly loving Illuminatea and Sleep Paralysis which I feel really compliment my hazel eyes and fair complexion.

Application

Each of the 18 shade of the Conspiracy palette is 1.5g/0.05oz and the pan size is a decent size, allowing you to really get your brush in. The shades are really reeeeeally pigmented. I was super impressed with the colour payout of all the shades I tested. ‘My Ride’s Here’ is the most pigmented black I’ve ever tested, I actually got a shock when I applied it to the eye. I felt like I was back in my Evanescence days.

There is a little bit of product fall out when trying to get it out of the pan but it is nothing I am overly fussed about.

The shades themselves blend well and I was really happy with the outcome. This never happens for me, any time I try to vary from my standard eye makeup routine I always have at least two breakdowns and one hissy fit. But I was impressed with this palette and my application.

Verdict

I had high hopes for this collection as I have been following the process in Shane and Jeffree’s series. I have previously reviewed Jeffree Star products and do tend to enjoy his products and their formulas.

The bright colours such as Trisha and Cheese Dust may scare people off but you could very easily create an everyday look using the mattes like My Pills and Ranch. I absolutely love the combination of Tanacon and Diet Root Beer, I can see myself wearing those shades day-to-day.

Overall, I think it’s a very good palette. It was super pigmented and easy to apply. At £48, it is more than I would usually spend on an eye palette but when looking at others on the market from similar brands, I do think you are getting slightly more for your money.

I am looking forward to playing more with this palette and who knows, maybe I’ll one day be bold enough to rock Flaming Hot, Cheese Dust and Food Videos.

Have you purchased anything from the Shane Dawson x Jeffree Star Conspiracy Collection? Will you be purchasing anything when it re-stocks? Let me know!

Until next time,

Ashleigh x
